Every time I walk to any yoga class I am always wondering why so many women practice Yoga positions more than men. Maybe it is just my observation but I am thinking it could be because women are more knowledgeable about the health benefits Yoga can offer to them.
In the morning I was browsing the internet and found a great article at the mdgazette.com talking about health benefits of Yoga for women and there were couple great things I did not know before. Anyway, I hope that you will like this information.
So What Are the Benefits of Yoga That Women Love?
Yoga enthusiasts claim that this ancient form of exercise is the key to helping women relax, restore and renew. Yoga involves performing specific poses, called asanas, in combination with meditation and breathing exercises. But yoga is much more than a “new age craze.”
If you haven’t tried this practice, there are some benefits you’re missing. Studies show that yoga can increase flexibility, improve balance and boost muscle strength. It also can teach women to reduce stress and anxiety and may even help relieve some symptoms associated with heart disease and cancer.
Yoga also is an effective complementary therapy for the following medical conditions:
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Neck and back pain
- Experts say women can reap the health benefits of yoga by practicing just ten minutes each day.
You see, in just 10 minutes you can completely change your day. The best routine for this I always suggest the Sun salutation, because it is very simple, yet very effective. This Yoga set of positions will stretch and strengthen the muscles you use the most and give you great cardio workout as well. When you finish, do not forget to do closing meditation for couple minutes. You will feel the energy!
Another simple exercise any women can do to relax is as the above-mentioned article author Mike Wozniak suggests:
Breathing from your diaphragm can give you a sense of yoga’s relaxing powers. Here’s a simple exercise for you to try:
1. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor.
2. Close your eyes and inhale deeply through your nose. Feel your diaphragm move down toward your stomach.
3. Exhale out through your mouth, contracting your abdominal muscles.
4. Repeat this pattern several times.
5. Stay focused on your breathing.
As you can see, Yoga can have a lot of positive effects on your health. Even though this post is all about Yoga health benefits for women, I believe that even men should try practicing Yoga and they will soon see how their health and wellness improved. What I like about Yoga is that you can learn it even at your own home if you do not have the time to go to your local Yoga studio or simply can not afford it. My favorite program is the 30 minute a day Yoga fitness system. See how many people have a great feedback about it.
